17/05/1973: China’s envoy & our PM open BMICH at 3.55 p.m. today
AT 3.55 p.m. today, the Prime Minister, Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike and the Special envoy of the People’s Republic of China, Hsu Hsiang-Chien, will declare open the Bandaranaike Memorial International Hall.
The conference hall, which cost Rs. 35 million to build, is a gift from China in memory of the late Mr. S.W.R.D Bandaranaike.

Yesterday, the 24 Chinese delegates led by the special Envoy, arrived by special aircraft at the Ratmalana Airport at 10.50. a.m.

They were met at the airport by the Prime Minister.

After lunch at “ Temple Trees”, the Special envoy and party visited the Bandaranaike Memorial hall in the evening.

This morning, the Special Envoy called on the President at “ Janadipathi Mandiraya”. The Prime Minister and the Speaker of the national State Assembly, Mr. Stanely Tillekeratne.

He was scheduled to leave for Horagolla at 10.30 a.m. where he is to lay a wreath at the Samadhi of the late Mr. S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike.
