14/12/1970: Northern youth volunteers for Bandaranaike Memorial work
Jaffna: At the Jaffna committee meeting of the WSLFP held at the district office, Sivan Temple view Vannarponnai jaffna with Mr. Thurairajah district organizer and president in the chair the following resolutions were passed unanimously :-
They firmly believe in the socialist politics enunciated by the late Prime Minister Mr. S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike for a united and prosperous Sri Lanka and followed by his widow Mrs. Sirimavo R.D. Bandaranaike and also in the common program drawn by the United Front and adopt these as fundamental for the development of the SLFP in all parts of the country.

The branches assembled here resolve that at least 200 volunteers among the members should send in their names through the district secretaries for voluntary work in connection with the construction of the Bandaranaike memorial hall at Anderson golf links, Colombo and such voluntary labor work should begin on January 8 1971 on the birth anniversary of the late Mr. Bandaranaike.

The branches express their unqualified confidence in their elected district organizer and district president Mr. Thurairajah.

Thirty seven branches participated in the deliberations.
